Carpet Factory Mezzanine in Glasgow.
For this project, our customer required our assistance for a more specialised storage problem. The company who are a carpet distributor, were struggling for warehouse space as they had nowhere in their facility that was appropriate for storing heavy palletised goods such as laminate flooring.
The Glasgow based company also mentioned they had considered having to buy a new/move to another premises to cope with the level of stock they need. However, after we proposed our plan, it was a much more cost effective, quicker and financially a much better long-term solution.
For the storage area Top Level Systems proposed a mezzanine floor that was to have large spans and high columns. The large spans of the beams were proposed as it would minimise the amount columns on the floor level as there is a large amount of forklift traffic passing through the warehouse with carpets lifted using boom extensions. The height of the mezzanine ceiling level was increased so that the forklift could still make full use of the warehouse’s racking.
The final result left our customers delighted as it meant they were now able to utilise all the empty space they hadn’t before in their huge ceiling space while keeping their floor space unaffected aa well as their forklift activity due to the unique column layout Top Level Systems proposed.
